Nationwide lifetime warranty

Confidence in every repair.

Nationwide support for as long as you own your vehicle. Every repair is quality checked before it comes back to you.

Your Fix Auto promise

We stand behind every repair

We stand behind the workmanship and paint refinishing of your eligible collision repair for as long as you own the vehicle. There is no fixed kilometre limit or expiry date during that ownership period.

  • For as long as you own it

    No year or kilometre limit while you own the vehicle, at no additional charge.

  • Claim anywhere in New Zealand

    At the Fix Auto Collision location that did the repair, any other participating Fix Auto Collision location, or our New Zealand head office.

  • Insurance or private

    It applies whether the repair was paid for by you, an insurer or another party.

Quality control

How we check every repair

Every Fix Auto Collision location follows the same quality assurance process, from the moment your car arrives to the moment you drive it away.

Step 1

Check-in

When you drop your car off, we record its condition on a vehicle check-in sheet, and you sign it with us.

  • Existing dents, scratches and missing parts, marked on a diagram of your car
  • Kilometres and fuel level
  • Wheels, windscreen, mirrors, interior and personal items
Step 2

Checked at every stage

The repair follows the Fix Auto quality assurance checklist. Each stage is checked and signed off before the car moves on.

  • Strip and panel: fitting, alignment, weld quality, sealing and filler finish
  • Paint: preparation, colour match, blending, overspray and overall finish
  • Refit and mechanical: parts refitted, anti-corrosion treatment and wheel geometry
  • Safety: lights, wipers, horn, tyres, battery, seat belts, wheel nuts and a road test
Step 3

Final inspection

A final quality control inspection is signed off before handover. You'll find a quality control tag on your mirror confirming your vehicle has passed the Fix Auto quality assurance process.

Your lifetime warranty

Customer warranty terms and conditions

Nationwide lifetime warranty. Effective 19/10/2026.

1. Our warranty

Fix Auto New Zealand and the participating Fix Auto repair centre identified on your final repair invoice or warranty record stand behind the quality of eligible collision repair work carried out on your vehicle.

Subject to these terms, we warrant the workmanship and paint refinishing forming part of an eligible collision repair for as long as the original warranty holder owns the vehicle. This warranty is provided at no additional charge.

2. Which repairs are covered

This warranty applies to collision repair work completed in New Zealand by a participating Fix Auto repair centre on or after the effective date, where the work is identified in the applicable repair invoice, repair record or insurer-approved repair authority.

It applies whether the repair was paid for by you, an insurer or another party. It covers only work performed by the participating Fix Auto repair centre, including any authorised supplementary work forming part of the repair.

3. What "lifetime" and "nationwide" mean

Lifetime. The warranty begins when the eligible repair is completed and ends when the original warranty holder no longer owns the vehicle. It has no fixed year or kilometre limit during that ownership period. It is personal to the original warranty holder and is not transferable when ownership changes.

Nationwide. You may lodge a claim with the repairing centre, another participating Fix Auto repair centre in New Zealand, or Fix Auto New Zealand. If the original centre is unavailable, Fix Auto New Zealand will coordinate assessment and, for an accepted claim, arrange rectification through a participating Fix Auto repair centre.

4. What is covered

  • Panel, structural and assembly workmanship, including incorrect fitting, fastening, sealing or alignment caused by the eligible repair work.
  • Paint preparation and refinishing performed as part of the repair, including premature peeling, cracking, blistering or loss of adhesion caused by that refinishing work.
  • Reasonable labour, materials and components required to diagnose and correct an accepted warranty defect.

A difference in appearance alone does not necessarily mean the repair is defective. Appearance may be assessed having regard to the agreed repair scope, the vehicle's pre-repair condition, applicable manufacturer requirements and the result reasonably achievable by a competent collision repairer.

5. Replacement parts and products

The lifetime promise relates principally to the quality of Fix Auto repair workmanship and paint refinishing. It does not mean that every replacement part, glass item, electronic component, tyre or other product fitted during the repair is guaranteed for the lifetime of the vehicle or your ownership.

Parts and products may have separate manufacturer or supplier warranties and may also be protected by applicable New Zealand law. If a component must be removed or replaced to correct workmanship covered by this warranty, the reasonable labour and materials required to rectify that covered workmanship are included.

6. What is outside this voluntary warranty

This warranty does not cover a condition to the extent it was not caused by the eligible Fix Auto repair work. Examples include:

  • a later accident, collision or impact;
  • flood, fire, hail, vandalism or other environmental damage;
  • stone chips and similar external damage;
  • ordinary wear, ageing, fading or corrosion unrelated to the repair;
  • pre-existing damage or defects outside the agreed repair scope;
  • damage caused by misuse, inappropriate maintenance or subsequent modification; or
  • defects caused by work subsequently performed by another repairer.

A later repair or modification does not automatically void the whole warranty. An exclusion applies only to the extent that later work caused the defect or makes the alleged warranty defect reasonably impossible to assess.

This voluntary warranty does not cover routine servicing, unrelated faults, vehicle upgrades, diminished resale value, loss of use, towing, hire vehicles or consequential expense. The warranty will not cover repair or rectification work carried out by any person outside of the Fix Auto network, unless expressly authorised by Fix Auto New Zealand.

7. Making a claim

  • Contact the Fix Auto repairing centre, another participating Fix Auto repair centre in New Zealand, or Fix Auto New Zealand.
  • Tell us what the concern is and, where reasonably available, provide the vehicle registration or VIN, approximate repair date, repair invoice or insurer claim/reference number, and relevant photographs.
  • Raise the issue as soon as reasonably practicable after noticing it and take reasonable steps to avoid further damage where it is safe to do so.
  • If the issue may affect safe operation of the vehicle, do not continue driving where doing so may be unsafe. Contact Fix Auto promptly.
  • A missing warranty card or invoice does not automatically invalidate a claim where the eligible repair can reasonably be verified by other means.

8. Assessment and remedy

Fix Auto will arrange a reasonable assessment of the claimed defect. If the claim is accepted, Fix Auto will arrange for the covered defect to be corrected through the nominated participating Fix Auto repair centre at no charge for the covered rectification work.

If a claim is declined, you may request the reasons for the decision and a review by Fix Auto New Zealand. Please obtain Fix Auto's approval before arranging non-emergency warranty repairs elsewhere. Necessary steps taken in an emergency or for safety reasons will be considered in the circumstances.

9. Your rights under New Zealand law

Important: This warranty is additional to, and does not exclude, restrict or modify, any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or any other applicable New Zealand law.

Where repair services are supplied to a consumer, statutory guarantees may apply independently of this voluntary warranty, including requirements relating to reasonable care and skill. Parts and materials may also carry statutory protections.
