About this policy
This policy explains how Fix Auto NZ ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores and shares personal information through this website, fixauto.co.nz. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.
Every Fix Auto Collision location in New Zealand is independently owned and operated. When you send a request to a workshop, that workshop also receives your information and looks after it under its own privacy obligations.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to give us through the forms on this website:
- Estimate requests: your name, phone number and email, your vehicle's make, model and registration, whether you're claiming on insurance or paying privately, your insurer's name if you give it, a description of what happened, photos of the damage, and your preferred workshop.
- Career applications: your name, phone number and email, the role and workshop you're interested in, what you tell us about yourself, and your CV if you upload one.
- Franchise enquiries: your name, phone number and email, your business name, town or city, team size and any message you include.
Photos you upload may show your car's registration plate, or other people or property. Please only send photos of the damage.
When you browse the site, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site running and secure.
How we use it
- To pass your estimate request to the workshop you chose, so they can contact you about your repair.
- To pass your job application to the workshop you chose, or consider it for other roles if you selected "Anywhere".
- To respond to franchise enquiries.
- To run, secure and improve this website.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for marketing unless you've agreed to that.
Who we share it with
- The workshop you choose. Each Fix Auto Collision location is an independently owned business. They use your information to contact you, prepare your estimate and carry out your repair.
- Your insurer, if you're making an insurance claim and ask the workshop to deal with them on your behalf.
- Service providers who help us run the website. Our website and forms are hosted by Netlify, Inc., which stores data on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States. Where information goes overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it's protected in a way comparable to the Privacy Act.
- Anyone we're required to share it with by law.
Maps, fonts and videos
Some pages load content from other companies:
- Google Maps shows each workshop's location. Google may collect information about your visit, such as your IP address.
- Google Fonts loads the typefaces used on the site, which means your browser contacts Google's servers.
- Video players from YouTube (in privacy-enhanced mode) load only when you press play.
These companies handle that information under their own privacy policies.
Cookies
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Third-party content such as Google Maps and video players may set their own cookies when it loads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How we store and protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information secure and protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it to us, or as required by law.
If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll notify the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected, as the Privacy Act requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. We'll respond within 20 working days. If you've sent a request to a workshop, you can also contact that workshop directly.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
