Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about estimates, insurance claims and repairs. Can't see your question? Call your nearest workshop.

Estimates

Can I get an estimate from photos?
Yes. Upload photos through the estimate form and your chosen workshop will come back to you with next steps. Photos give us a head start, and we'll confirm the estimate once we've seen the car in person.
Why can't you give me a firm price online?
Photos only show part of the damage, and some of it can sit behind a panel. We'll confirm the estimate once we've seen the car, before any work starts.
Do I need an appointment?
It helps. Send photos through the estimate form or call ahead so the team is ready for you. Opening hours vary by location, so check your workshop's page.

Insurance and claims

Can I bring my car to Fix Auto Collision whoever I'm insured with?
Yes. Let your insurer know you'd like your local Fix Auto Collision location to repair your car, and the team will work with your insurer on the assessment and repair.
Can I pay privately instead of claiming?
Yes. No claim is needed. You'll get an estimate up front, which can make sense for smaller damage under your excess.
Do I need to know if I'm claiming before I ask for an estimate?
No. Choose "Not sure yet" on the estimate form and tell us when you know.
What should I bring when I drop my car off?
Your keys, rego, and your claim number if you're claiming on insurance.

Repairs

Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Eligible collision repairs by a participating Fix Auto Collision location come with a nationwide lifetime warranty on workmanship and paint refinishing, for as long as you own the vehicle. You can claim at any participating Fix Auto Collision location in New Zealand. See the warranty terms and conditions.
How long will my collision repair take?
It depends on the damage and the parts your car needs. We'll give you an estimated timeframe with your estimate, and let you know if anything changes.
How long does rim repair take?
Most alloy wheel and rim repairs take one to three days. Timeframes vary by location, so we'll confirm once we've seen the wheel.
Can you match my car's paint colour?
Yes. Paint is colour-matched to your car and blended into the surrounding panels, so the repair blends in with your original paintwork.
What is ADAS calibration?
Many newer cars have cameras and sensors for features like lane assist, emergency braking and parking aids. After a repair, they may need recalibrating so your safety systems work as they should. Every Fix Auto Collision location offers ADAS calibration, either in house or through a specialist they work with.
Do you offer courtesy cars?
Yes. Please check with your local workshop when you book for current availability.
