Meet Jake Baker

Jake started in collision repair at 16, straight out of school as an apprentice. At 20 he left to join the New Zealand Police, then came back to the industry in his early 30s and bought a repair shop.

What keeps him going is handing the car back. “I like the satisfaction of giving a repaired car back to its owner. I like the look on their face.”

The workshop covers everything from heavy structural repairs to minor collision and cosmetic SMART repairs. The panel shop has the latest spot welders and measuring systems, the wheel repair centre runs a CNC wheel lathe, and the paint shop has two spray booths, modern paint systems and UV curing to speed jobs up.

Fix Auto Collision is a network of locally owned workshops that share training, systems and buying power. Fix Auto Palmerston North CBD is owned and run locally, by Jake Baker.

It depends on the damage and the parts your car needs. We'll give you an estimated timeframe with your estimate, and let you know if anything changes.
Can I get an estimate from photos?
Yes. Upload photos through the estimate form and we'll come back to you with next steps. Photos give us a head start, and we'll confirm the estimate once we've seen the car in person.
Where are you?
We're centrally located at 26–30 Willis Street, a two-minute drive from The Square. Customers come to us from across Palmerston North and from Feilding, Ashhurst, Bunnythorpe, Linton, Bulls and Pahiatua.
How long does a paint repair take?
A typical front bumper or front-end repaint takes about two days. That covers stripping the parts off, repairing, priming, painting in the booth and refitting. Bigger jobs take longer, and we'll give you a timeframe with your estimate.
